Engine Won’t Start – No Fuel or Spark – Crankshaft Sensor Bad?

Reader Question

My Harmonic balancer on my 1992 Buick basically rotted away on me and I waited too long to replace it. It started throwing the belt immediately upon starting. I finally replaced the balancer and now the car won’t start. I don’t have spark or fuel to the plugs. Is the crankshaft sensor the problem??
Thanks for your time.

Hello there,

yes, I would be suspect of the crankshaft sensor or the alignment of the sensor. They are pretty cheap, so it would be a good inexpensive guess to try, it could have gotten beat up with the belt failure.

Blessings,
Austin Davis
