91 Buick Regal Won’t Start – Fuel Pump Replaced
Reader Question I HAVE A 1991 BUICK REGAL WITH A 3800 ENGINE WITH 204000 MILES.I WAS DRIVING IT JUST QUIT, WHEN I GOT IT HOME,I COULD START IT BY POURING A LITTLE GAS IN THE HOSE FOR THE AIR FILTER,IT RUN UNTIL THE GAS WAS GONE. I CHANGED FUEL PUMP AND SENDING UNIT, BUT THE FUEL STILL WONT COME ON,I KNOW ITS GOOD I TESTED IT BEFORE INSTALLING IT,DOES THE CRANK POSITION CENSOR HAVE ANYTHING TOO DO WITH THE FUEL PUMP?
Hey there
Yes, the crankshaft position sensor will give a signal to the computer that the engine is in deed turning over and to turn on the fuel pump. I would replace the crank sensor and see what happens. They are a known failure item on these vehicles.
Blessings,
Austin Davis
