2001 Pontiac Firebird TA Rear Defroster Not Working

Reader Question Hi;

I have a 2001 Pontiac Firebird T/A and my rear defroster has not worked for a while.. I was going through my owners manual and found the fuse and replaced it.. still nothing.. the button on the dash board console will not light and the rear defroster won’t come one but the heater and air condition works just fine.. any ideas what I can try next? Any idea’s at this point would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you,
Christina

Hey there Christina,

If you have double checked ALL the related fuses…there could be more than one that controls power to the switch.

I would make sure the connector is plugged in on the rear glass. Follow all the black defroster circuit lines in the rear glass and there should be a connector on the glass, make sure it is plugged in good and tight. If that is ok, I would want to test the dash switch and check to see if there is power to the rear connector. Unless you know what you are doing and have the tools to test those items…..I really don’t have a “shade tree mechanic” test you can do yourself. This is a pretty simple system though, so I would not expect the repair to be very expensive.

Blessings,

Austin Davis
