Fabulous Ford PartsThe Ford Motor Company has been building cars for over one century now. Part of the company’s success has been the careful oversight of their part’s business, Motorcraft, which is behind the thousands of parts that appear on Mustangs, Thunderbirds, Torino’s, Mavericks, Explorers, Escorts, and scores of other models that have worn the Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln name over the years. Whether built directly by Motorcraft or outsourced by the Ford parts company, you can be sure that every part meets the high standards established by Ford. Let’s take a look at some of these important parts. When ordering replacement or performance parts for your Ford vehicle, it is essential that they meet or exceed stringent OEM requirements established by the automaker. It isn’t enough to purchase a quality, low priced part, instead the part must be both genuine and as good as the part that it replaces. The following are some examples of genuine Ford parts: Under the Hood. Some of the replacement parts that Motorcraft makes or authorizes include: air filters, oil filters, batteries, spark plugs, spark plug wires, belts, hoses, timing chains, and gaskets. Many of the highly technical parts such as sensors are outsourced to suppliers who build the part to ford specifications. Under the Car. Includes the catalytic converter, muffler, ford exhaust pipe, oxygen sensor, suspension system, and brake components. On the Car. Ford Headlights, Ford tail lights, parking lights, trim, door handles, ford mirrors, moldings, etc. are Ford specified. In the Cabin. Everything from the door handle, to the DVD player, to the window motor, ashtrays, glove box, air conditioning, and more. Of course, Ford cannot build every part and that is why key and noted manufacturers are tapped to supply many key components. As always, Ford would love for you to purchase your replacement parts through your local Ford, Mercury, or Lincoln dealer, but we all know that this particular option can be costly. On the other hand, purchasing parts elsewhere always involves certain risks especially in this day of counterfeit auto parts, which is plaguing the industry to the tune of over ten billion U.S. dollars annually. So, what exactly are your options for finding genuine replacement or performance parts at decent prices? Here are two suggestions: 1. Search the Internet. Compare prices between stores on the Internet and find out who is offering what parts and for how much. Don’t stop there, however. A reputable wholesaler should offer round the clock support, have an available toll free number, list their prices clearly online, state shipping information, offers a secure web site, and list the make/manufacturer of every part that they sell. 2. Buy trusted brands. Everyone wants to save money, but ridiculously large savings should be a warning sign that something isn’t right. Names like Bosch, K&N, and Denso are all industry recognized names. Stick with the brands and stay away from the “no name” or generic brands as you cannot know for certain that the parts meet Ford requirements. So, that’s it. Genuine Ford parts can be had at wholesale prices. Shop wisely and you can reap huge savings.
