Reader Question I have 1995 Mitsubishi Mirage LS, the fuel pump is pumping backwards. How do I correct this?
Thanks,
Teresa

Hey Teresa,

Turn the car upside down! How in the heck does your fuel pump pump backwards…and how do you know that? Honestly I have not heard of such a thing. I guess there could be a possibility of hooking the fuel pump wires up in a reverse order. Did you just replace the pump? If so, did you hook up the wires like the old one? I’ve seen people replace the a/c fan motor wire connections up in the reverse order…..so the motor would spin in the opposite direction.

If you did not just replace the fuel pump, I would get another diagnosis on the original complaint. Which I suppose is…the engine will not start?

If you are sure the pump is pumping backwards and everything is hooked up correctly, you might have a bad pump.

Blessings,

Austin Davis
