Lexus GS 300 – My Car – Picture and Review

Lexus GS 300 Review

I get asked all the time, “Austin what kind of car do you drive”? I am usually pretty embarrassed to tell the truth, but the truth is…I drive a ….a ….a ….1993 Lexus GS 300 and I love it. Why such an old car, when I am a car buff?

Did I mention that I am tight with my money and hate car notes or dealing with a car dealer?

When I get a car that I like, I tend to drive it a long long time. I usually end up selling and buying a new car when the current car leaves me stranded on the side of the road due to a breakdown. I sold one car I had just becuase I had a flat tire, to me….the car let me down and that is the last straw for me.

Since I own a car repair shop…repair bills are not a problem for me and maintenance is something I do to my cars when things are slow at the shop and my guys need something to do.

The Lexus GS300 is a great car…I mean it is made by Toyota so you expect great things from them.

The 3.0 Liter V6 delivers more than enough power while still being fuel effiencent.

The transmission shifts smoothly, you never even feel it shift and I have never had a problem with over the 100,900 miles I have been driving it.

The air conditioning is very cold, like most Japanese cars, they seem to understand how a/c systems really work better than U.S. car manufacturers do.

I really have not put a bunch of money into maintaining this car, the usual maintenance like tires, timing belt, radiator hoses and tune ups and filter changes, but nothing really out of the ordainary….or anything too costly.

The one thing I have not been happy with is the suspension and the ride…which could be smoother. I did replace the shocks and struts but that did not really make that much of a change. The 2001 – 2002- 2003 – 2004 2005 and 2006 GS300 have a much smoother ride.

So bottom line…if you can afford it, buy a Lexus. They last forever and their resale value hold up strong as well too.

hey, i’m looking to buy a 2000 Lexus GS 300 that has about 200k miles. The seller has 20 inch rims on the car and everything seems to be perfectly maintained with proper receipts available. i currently have a ford expedition with 86K miles. should i stick it out with ford or move on to better things with the lexus? thanks!

I have personally owned both vehicles and loved them both. I would stick with the lower mileage Expedition rather than push your luck with the higher mileage Lexus…..although mileage is not as much a factor with the Lexus as most American vehicles. The Expedition on the other hand is an awesome vehicle and will last just as long.

U betcha I have this exact car and I echo your sentiments on the Lexus GS300. Perfect car and perfect for people that don’t like car maintenance. A female preferred vehicle. and stylish enough for a man.
