If you like working with your hands and are thinking about being a mechanic, become car mechanic in diesel may be the career for you. There are several options to choose to become a diesel mechanic. Although some companies offer training while you work, formal education to take you to a certificate or an associate degree is the best choice to increase your chance of finding a job.

Get ready for Diesel Mechanic career since high school .

Take courses in electronics, automotive and diesel repair in high school.
General and complete courses (mathematics, physics, physical education, English and computers) required to enter a college or a vocational institution.
Get high school diploma or GED

Enroll in a university or a vocational program that offers the diesel mechanic certificate or an associate degree .
Learn how to read manuals and communicate with clients and colleagues.
Participates in classes, lab work or any experience you can get.

Get a driver’s license . This license is required when you go to test drive a vehicle that has been repaired or will be repaired.

Search for an employer who is willing to give training while working during the course of your classes to get the diploma .

You need at least 2 years of experience working to pass the exam for the certificate.
Become a master technician to pass the exam and have all the old certificates.
Save the certificate to take the tests every 5 years.
