How Long Does A Car Battery Last?
Reader Question: My son has his van parked outside while he is out of town. It has a new battery. How long can the van sit before it will go dead? It’s been sitting now for 16 days and he will not be back for another 2 weeks.
Will it be ok until then?
Thank you.
Peggy
Hi Peggy,
As long as the battery is fairly new, the car is not parked out in the Alaska winter and there is nothing plugged into the accessory ports or cigarette lighter that might cause an additional drain on the battery he will probably be ok.
1 month is pushing it, but it will probably be just fine.
Blessings,
Austin Davis
