1997 Chevy Lumina Engine Won’t Turn Over or Start
Reader Question Hi Austin
I have a 1997 Chevy Lumina that won’t turn over
There is power to lights all accessories. When I turn key to start the car nothing happens and the Security light is blinking. which has never happen before.
Thanks for any help
Herb
Hi Herb,
First thing I would do is test the battery, and make sure the cable cables are clean and tight. Do the head lights com on nice and bright, do the headlights go OUT completely when you try to start the car….if so, you probably have a bad battery or a loose battery cable connection. When in doubt, charge the battery a hour and retest.
Do the headlights stay bright when you try to start the engine…if so, you might have an alarm issue, try starting the car in neutral, or see if you have a manual alarm override button or switch under the dash somewhere.
Blessings,
Austin C. Davis
