2005 Dodge Caravan – Whining Noise
Reader Question: My husband and I lease a 2005 Dodge Caravan. Lately it has been whining. Yes, it has a loud whining noise, which gets louder when I move the steering wheel but is not limited to steering.
It only seems to do this in first gear.
Please help. What do we do?
Theresa
Hey Theresa,
You might want to start with checking the power steering fluid level and the transmission fluid levels.
Since the noise gets louder when you move the steering wheel, I would suspect you either have a power steering pump that is low on fluid or the pump is worn out internally and needs to be replaced.
The vehicle might be going so fast in second gear that it drowns out the noise of the pump.
Blessings,
Austin Davis
