2000 Oldsmobile Alero

Reader Question: Hi,

I have a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero. I have been having a problem with my antifreeze leaking out. The car over heated one night and now it will try to run hot even when I put water or coolant in it.

I let the car sit for about 2 weeks and one morning I started the engine and white steam was coming from the pipes.

What could be wrong and about how much will it cost me to fix?

Hey there RayMeri,

The first thing to do in this situation is get a cooling system pressure test done at your mechanic or fast lube place. You want to rule out the possibility of an external leak from a radiator hose or something or an internal leak from a blown head gasket or crack in the engine.
