1999 GMC Pick Up Dash Warning Lights Flash

Reader Question I own a l999 GMC PU 5.3 liter engine 85,000 miles battery lite 1 second, flash low fuel lite 1 second, flash security lite 5 seconds, flash no fuel gauge, no transmission indicator, ABS lite constantly on, seat belt lite constant vehicle still runs this is intermittent

Nothing shows on computer diagnostic scan

Wowow! Ok…hate to admit it, but I’m stumped too. With that many things happening at once, I would suspect a grounding issue…or lack of a ground circuit…either in the battery/alternator or on the engine computer itself.

You just don’t see THAT many things flash at once unless there is a lack of power problem to the computer, or a lack of a ground which can cause all kinds of warning lights to come on.

If you own Alldata, you might check to see if there is a technical service bulletin out on this, but I am not aware of one. I would start by checking all the powers and grounds at the computer, battery and alternator.

IT TOOK ME AWHILE BUT WOULD YOU BELIEVE

SPECIFIC GRAVITY OF A MADE IN MEXICO SEARS ROEBUCK DIEHARD BATTERY

WHEN THE LITES ARE INCIDENT HAPPENS I PLUG IN A DEEP CELL CHARGER TO THE BATTERY

WALLA 2 HRS LATER THE LITES ARE OUT AND I AM GOOD FOR 10 THRU 15 DAYS

REMEMBER THE CHARGING SYSTEM CHECK OUT OK AT HOME AND SEARS AND MY LOCAL MECHANIC

HOWEVER SEARS DOES NOT CHECK SPECIFIC GRAVITY ANYMORE EVEN THE THE CAPS ARE ACCESSIBLE
