1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

Reader Question: Hello,

I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo I have been having trouble with the transmission shifting from second to third.

I just ignored it. However, about a week later, I was driving it home and the motor just shut off on me, checking everything I could think of nothing worked.

Could a transmission module cause the jeep not to start? I checked the spark from the ignition coil it was fine, but no spark to the plugs. I changed out the cap and rotor, checked the crank and cam sensors, they where good.

I just do not know. Do you have any suggestions?

Jeremy

Hey Jeremy,

I have never heard of the transmission module causing a no start engine condition….but there is always a first time I suppose.

If you have spark from the coil, follow it through the distributor, there has to be a problem in the distributor or the crank or cam sensors or the computer itself…but that is rare.

These vehicles are notorious for bad crank sensors so double-check that again.

Blessings,
Austin Davis
