1994 Plymouth Sundance

Reader Question: Hi,

I have 1994 Plymouth Sundance. I was just wondering if you have any ideas. When going to a stop as I put on the brakes the vehicle wants to stall. Is there a vacuum problem or what else might it be?

Thank you.

Hey there,

Yes, there could be a vacuum leak somewhere under the hood, like a broken vacuum hose connector or something. Open the hood with the engine running and look for any small rubber hoses on the engine that might have come loose, and listen for a hissing noise that would accompany a vacuum leak.

I would probably suspect you have a dirty throttle body and idle control motor more than anything else. You can have any local mechanic clean these two items for you fairly quickly and cheaply and should be done as maintenance anyway.
