1990 Honda Civic Hatchback Si

Reader Question: I have a 1990 Honda Civic Hatchback Si 1.6 it is hard to start when engine is sitting all-night or day when warm it starts right up.

Wants it started and you shut it off its will start right up.

Thanks,

Mark

Hey Mark,

If the engine is spinning over slower in the morning when cold I would suspect you have a weak battery and the engine is spinning over slower thus taking longer to start.

If it has been awhile since the battery has been tested, you might want to have that done.

If the engine seems to spin over fast enough and you do not suspect a weak battery then I would look into the possibility of needing a tune up.

Worn spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, ignition rotor and fuel filter could hamper starting and more so when the engine is cold.

Blessings,
Austin Davis
